Tatrabreak is a short, but relaxing stay amid the thermal spas and beautiful landscape of the Tatra Mountains. The program below is designed for individual visitors without a car. Transportation between the towns is by the modern Tatra Electric Railway. The suggested itinerary may be prolonged, and visits to Spis Castle and other historical monuments of the Spis region, as well as rafting on the Dunajec River, can be arranged.
Day 1
In the morning arrive to Poprad-Tatry and transfer by taxi to your Tatra hotel. Afternoon travel by the Tatra Electric Railway to Poprad, the center of the region, and relax in the thermal pools of AquaCity. Walk to charming Spisska Sobota, a historic town known for the Gothic St. George church and a splendid square of burgher houses with typical wooden roofs, one of the most beautiful in the Tatra region.
Day 2
Full day walking trip to the Popradske pleso lake. The route takes in impressive views of the valley and a grand mountain lake, encircled by majestic Tatra mountain cliffs. Lunch is in a mountain chalet restaurant. Afterward, visit the Symbolical Cemetery, where hand-carved crosses commemorate climbers and other victims who died in the Tatra Mountains.
Day 3
Another day of hiking on beautiful, well-marked Tatra mountain trails. Begin with a ride in the funicular to Skalnate pleso lake, located beneath towering Lomnicky Peak, the second highest in the Tatras. From here, walk along the so-called "Magistrala" Path to the Cold Creek Waterfalls. Then take the Hrebienok Funicular to the town of Stary [Old] Smokovec, a famous Tatra resort that is a charming blend of fin-de-siecle Alpine-styled buildings and modernist architecture from the 1920s and 1930s. In the afternoon, take a private transfer to Poprad-Tatry train station.
